DESCRIPTION

A pair of 18 carat white gold earrings in the simplified form of elegant ladies according to the ancient Cycladic style emphasise the creative fertility of women – the driving force of human life. The soft colours of the pink tourmaline and kyanite reflect the gentle, caring nature of the mother.

INSPIRATION

The Cycladic Women earrings were inspired by the ancient Cycladic stone figurines of women (2700-2400BC) with their simple lines and elegant forms. Their proportions seem to have been carefully measured. Found primarily in graves these figurines are thought to have had religious significance perhaps representing the fertility goddess. The time taken to carve them in hard marble indicates the importance they had for their owners.
